Family Ride-Along During Air Transports

Members of a Modesto, California, air transport team evaluated a Family Member Ride-Along program from the perspective of the family member passenger (FMP). Thirty-one of 60 (52%) FMPs responded to a 10-item telephone questionnaire using a scaled response. All FMPs were greater than 18 years of age. Pediatric patients aged 1 month to 14 years represented 81% of study transports; parents represented 78% of FMPs. All respondents felt that accompanying the patient on transport was personally beneficial, 30 (97%) believed FMPs should always be allowed to accompany patients on transport, and 30 (97%) believed that . . .
