Children and their parents often have questions about strength training programs, both for improving performance in competitive sports as well as for weight loss and overall fitness. Well-informed physicians can provide accurate information for sport-specific training and clarify myths and misconceptions. Strength training involves those resistance methods that increase strength by free weights, machine, and other devices providing resistance.
