This playful British article, by 3 pediatricians (and the infant child of 1 of them), has prompted many lively discussions about whether nursery rhymes could cause violent behavior. The authors compared the number of violent episodes in the 25 most popular nursery rhymes with United Kingdom television programs shown between 5:30 pm and 9 pm during a 2-week period. While 44% of the nursery rhymes contained violence, 51% of the television programs contained violence.
