Investigators from West Sussex, United Kingdom, have published the first whole population cohort risk analysis of abuse and neglect among children with disabling conditions. The analysis was performed by linking vital record data for 119,729 children, representing 76% of births registered in this region from 1983 through 2001, with registries of disabling conditions (cerebral palsy; autism; sensory disorders; and moderate or severe conduct disorders, non-conduct psychological problems, and speech and language disorders) and substantiated investigations of child abuse and neglect (physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, neglect) registered from 1986 through 2003.
