Investigators from Seattle Childrens Hospital and the University of Washington conducted a study to determine whether there is an opportunity for hospital-based influenza vaccination to prevent a substantial number of subsequent hospitalizations for influenza-related illness in pediatric patients.
Using the Pediatric Health Information System database of the Child Health Corporation, a collaboration of 42 freestanding childrens hospitals, investigators identified children
18 years of age discharged from the hospital between November 1 and April 30 with International Classification of Diseases, Ninth Revision, Clinical Modification (ICD-9-CM) codes
