Fasting Guidelines for Children Undergoing Elective Surgery

The authors surveyed 55 hospitals in North America listed in the Directory of Pediatric Anesthesiology Fellowship Programs about their pre-operative fasting guidelines. Forty-four reported their practice regarding the intake of clear liquids, breast milk, formula and solids for children of various ages before surgery.
