This report of a committee of the Royal College of Ophthalmology concerns the effects on the eye of shaking or indirect trauma to the head in infants or very young children. The report takes the unusual form of a series of questions about retinal hemorrhage (RH), a carefully annotated summary of the evidence published in 104 citations through 1997, and succinct conclusions of these experts. Several of the 15 questions and conclusions are abstracted below. Q: Are any ocular fundus findings pathognomonic of child abuse?
