The authors investigated the epidemiological association between MMR vaccination and the occurrence and onset of autism spectrum disorders (ASD) in a regional sample of 498 cases identified since 1978 in 8 Northern Thames health districts. There was no increase in the incidence of ASD after the introduction of MMR in 1988. The age of diagnosis of ASD, the onset of parental concerns, and the development of "autistic regression" were not related to whether the child had received MMR under 18 months of age, over 18 months of age, or had never been vaccinated. . . .
