The aim of this study was to compare the prevalence of positive screening results for attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in a select group of injured children to a group of non-injured patients. The study investigators, from the Dell Childrens Hospital in Austin and the Childrens Medical Center in Dallas, TX, prospectively identified consecutive (non-random) children, aged 6 to 12 years, admitted to Childrens Medical Center Dallas for either a specific injury related to the childs behavior (cases) or appendicitis (controls).
Children with injuries were included if their injury resulted from an auto-pedestrian collision, auto-bicycle collision, other bicycle collision, or falling. Injured children were
