Researchers in the Studies to Advance Autism Research and Treatment (STAART) network undertook a multi-site placebo-controlled 12-week trial to determine if citalopram hydrobromide is effective in treating repetitive behavior in children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). Citalopram is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) that is available in a liquid formulation.
