The authors analyzed survival of 124 children with cystic fibrosis (CF) who were accepted for lung transplantation at the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London between May 1988 and May 1998. Children accepted into the program had a life expectancy of 2 years or less, a poor quality of life, and no contraindications to transplantation. Contraindications included: ventilator dependency or failure of the family or child to fully commit to the procedure. Children with severe liver disease were referred elsewhere. Date of enrollment for transplantation and 7 demographic and clinical features were analyzed.
