These authors investigated whether breastfeeding is effective for pain control during venipuncture in term neonates and comparable in effect to oral glucose combined with a pacifier. They conducted a randomized controlled trial among 180 breastfed term newborns undergoing venipuncture at Poissy-Saint Germain Hospital in Poissy, France.
