This retrospective chart review by investigators from Long Island Jewish Medical Center, NY, was done to determine the time of onset of uveitis in children with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis (JRA). The study looked at children diagnosed with JRA over a period of 17 years. One hundred fifty-eight patients (126 girls) were studied. Uveitis occurred in 39 (25%) of the patients during the study period. The average age at diagnosis of JRA in the total group was 65 months, but those children who developed uveitis had an average age at diagnosis
