AAP Grand Rounds Online SUBSCRIBER HELP & SERVICES:
These questions and answers are provided to assist AAP Grand Rounds Online Continuing Medical Education (CME) subscribers. If you have a question that is not covered here, please email us and include the words "CME Help" in the subject line of your message. 1. How do I earn CME credit using AAP Grand Rounds Online? Credit in AAP Grand Rounds Online is granted on a per-issue basis (1.5 hours per completed issue). In order to earn CME credits, you must be a subscriber to AAP Grand Rounds, take all the quizzes for a particular year (12 issues), and then Submit the issue for credit. 2. What will I receive to document the credit I've earned? Once you have submitted a completed year for credit, you will receive an email CME certificate, and your CME Summary Page will be updated to reflect the hours earned. 3. How do I know that my answers for the CME quiz are correct? In AAP Grand Rounds, there are "preferred" answers, not strictly correct answers. When you submit a particular quiz (one of the quizzes within an issue), these preferred responses are highlighted in yellow. 4. Do I need to get a percentage of questions correct to earn CME credit? You only need to complete all the quizzes for an issue to receive CME credit. After you've submitted a quiz, you will see your own answer to each question as compared to the preferred answer. You do not need to earn a particular score to receive CME credit; however, if you would like to change your answers use the "Back" button on your web browser to return to the quiz, change your answers, and re-submit the quiz. When you are satisfied with your answers and have viewed the preferred answers, you may return to the CME Summary page by clicking on the CME Summary link at the bottom of the page. 5. What does the red highlighted text of a preferred response really mean? It doesn't always seem directly related to the highlighted response. We have attempted to identify the area of the article that is relevant to the preferred response. In some cases, the red highlighted text has direct relevance to the preferred response. In other cases, the red highlighted text serves merely to indicate that a longer passage in its vicinity conveys important information about the topic, often yielding the preferred response after a complete reading. 6. Who accredits AAP Grand Rounds's CME program? The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The AAP designates this educational activity for a maximum of 18 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. This activity is acceptable for a maximum of 18 AAP credits. These credits can be applied toward the AAP CME/CPD Award available to Fellows and Candidate Fellows of the AAP. The American Academy of Physician Assistants accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™ from organizations accredited by the ACCME. This activity is approved for a maximum of 18 NAPNAP contact hours. Pharmacology credit is pending. Expiration of Credit: December 31, 2012 for Volumes 20 and 21 (2009 publishing year). Credit for completing the 2009 AAP Grand Rounds will be awarded for up to 3 years. Credits will be recorded in the year in which they are submitted. 2009 Credit Deadline: Issues submitted online for CME credit on or before December 31, 2009 will be recorded in 2009. Issues submitted for CME credit on or after January 1, 2010 will be recorded in 2010.
