A topic dermatitis (AD) is a chronically relapsing inflammatory skin disorder that usually presents in the first years of life. Diagnosing AD in early infancy may be difficult since the cardinal feature of pruritus may be difficult to recognize and the rash may be confused with other common childhood rashes. Investigators from Copenhagen sought to describe the progression of AD during the first 3 years of life and to determine if early site-specific lesions are predictive for AD within the first 3 years of life.
In this prospective, longitudinal birth cohort study, 411 infants born to mothers with a history of asthma were followed for 3 years.
