The clinical, radiologic, and laboratory findings of 17 patients with encephalopathy following a prolonged febrile seizure (FS) were reviewed retrospectively at Kameda Medical Center and other centers throughout Japan and in San Francisco. Patient ages ranged from 10 months to 4 years (16 patients were <2 years). All study children presented with a FS lasting longer than 30 minutes.
