To assess the risk of central nervous system (CNS) depression in infants breastfed by mothers taking benzodiazepines, researchers from multiple institutions in Canada administered a telephone questionnaire to 124 women who had previously contacted the Motherisk Program, a medication information program at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, for advice on the use of the benzodiazepines during lactation.
