Investigators from multiple institutions in Europe examined the relationship between adolescent viewing of alcohol use in movies and lifetime binge drinking, and sought to determine whether a correlation exists across European cultures where alcohol control policies and youth alcohol use vary considerably. Participants were recruited from public schools in 6 European countries (Germany, Iceland, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, and Scotland). The enrolled young people noted movies they remembered seeing when presented with a list of popular films.
