Researchers in Liverpool, England sought to determine if the activity-promoting video game console Kinect for Xbox 360 provided an appreciable increase in energy expenditure compared with a sedentary video game among school-aged children. Using a webcam-style sensor, the Kinect enables the player to become the controller of the video game, thus allowing for whole body activity. Healthy children, 11 to 15 years old, were recruited for the study. Height and weight were measured and BMI was calculated.
