Investigators from Vanderbilt University performed a retrospective analysis of patients in the Multicenter Orthopaedic Outcomes Network (MOON) who underwent anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) in 2002 and 2003 and identified football as their primary or secondary sport. The investigators recontacted patients 6 years after the time of their ACL injury to conduct structured interviews regarding their return to play status, advancement to next level of competition (eg, high school to collegiate level), position played, performance following ACLR, and, if applicable, reasons for not returning to play.
