Investigators from Calgary, Alberta conducted a prospective study of the efficacy of bracing for pectus carinatum (PC). Patients with PC who were referred for evaluation at the investigators’ chest wall clinic from 2003 to 2011 were approached to participate. Bracing therapy involved a lightweight patient-controlled adjustable chest brace and 3 phases: a correction phase (CP), in which the brace was worn 23 hours per day; maintenance phase (MP), in which the brace was worn 8 to 12 hours per day; and final phase (FP), in which no brace was worn but follow-up was continued.
