Investigators from multiple institutions performed parallel prospective cohort studies to ascertain the long-term sequelae and neurodevelopmental outcomes of congenital cytomegalovirus (cCMV) infection among mother-infant dyads in Malmö, Sweden and London. Live newborns at a single hospital in Malmö and at 3 hospitals in London were tested for CMV between 1977 and 1985 and 1979 to 1986, respectively.
