Researchers from Brown University and Baylor College of Medicine developed a survey to assess the perceptions of Pediatric Program Directors (PDs) regarding the impact of the 2011 Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) resident work hour regulations. For the survey, PDs were asked whether they approved, disapproved, or were neutral about 7 individual duty hour rules including: required direct supervision of PGY-1s, 80-hour work week limit, minimum 1 day off in 7, 16-hour PGY-1 shift limit, 28-hour senior resident shift limit, 8-hour minimum break between shifts, and <7 straight night shifts.
