Question: Among patients seen in an emergency department for an acute concussion, does 5 days of strict rest result in faster symptom resolution compared to 1–2 days of rest followed by stepwise return to activity?

Researchers from the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee investigated whether recommending strict rest improved concussion recovery after discharge from the pediatric emergency department (ED). Patients aged 11–22 years presenting to the pediatric ED within 24 hours of concussion were recruited between 2010 and 2012.
