Investigators from multiple institutions compared the mucosal and systemic immune responses induced by live attenuated influenza vaccine (LAIV) and inactivated influenza vaccine (IIV). Healthy children recruited from the Rochester, NY community and Dartmouth, NH clinics were enrolled in either autumn 2010 or autumn 2011. The same seasonal influenza vaccine was used in both years.
