Investigators from multiple institutions conducted a prospective observational study to assess the long-term cardiac sequelae of adolescent survivors of severe pediatric burn injury. Participants were eligible if they had a history of severe burn affecting at least 30% of the total body surface area at least 5 years before the study period, were treated acutely for the burn at the study institution, and were receiving follow-up care at the study institution. A convenience sample of healthy controls was also enrolled as age-matched controls.
