Investigators from the University of Montreal and the University of British Columbia conducted a retrospective cohort study to explore the time to, and predictors of, asthma-related readmission among children admitted for asthma. Data were obtained from a national Canadian administrative database that includes information from hospital discharges. Investigators abstracted data involving children 2–17 years of age with an asthma-related hospitalization between 2008 and 2014.
The primary predictor was ICU admission during a participant’s first asthma-related hospitalization during the study period (ie, index hospitalization).
