Investigators from multiple institutions conducted a case series to describe the growth trajectory of infants with short bowel syndrome (SBS). Children <2 years old were eligible if they had SBS, defined as having <25% predicted small bowel length remaining or the need for parenteral nutrition (PN) support for >6 weeks after intestinal resection, and were cared for at the study institution between 2008–2016. The nutritional approach to patients with SBS at the study institution was to wean them from PN when they consistently met growth goals and intestinal absorption was stable with enteral feed advancement.
