Investigators from multiple institutions conducted a study to assess the effects of prenatal selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) exposure and brain development in young infants. For the study, MRI findings of the brains of young infants exposed to SSRI in utero were compared to those unexposed to these drugs, including both those whose mothers had prenatal depression (PMD) or were healthy controls (HC).
