Investigators from multiple institutions in France conducted a retrospective cohort study to assess the risk of oral propranolol for treatment of children with infantile hemangioma (IH). Data for this study were obtained from a national medico-administrative database that is linked to a hospital discharge database and covers 98.8% of the French population. This database contains demographic data; medical and drug reimbursements; laboratory test results; outpatient medical care consultations; and hospitalizations with primary, related, and associated diagnoses based on ICD-10 codes. However, there is no information on diagnoses not linked with a hospitalization.
