Investigators from the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, and Harvard Medical School, Boston, reviewed data from Pediatric Health Information System (PHIS) databases to assess variation in admission rates for children <2 years presenting to the EDs of participating hospitals with UTIs and to evaluate ED revisit rates for those not initially admitted. PHIS databases include demographic and clinical data on patients seen at 48 pediatric medical centers in the United States.
