Investigators from multiple institutions conducted a study to assess the effect of a healthy maternal lifestyle on the risk of obesity during childhood and adolescence in their offspring. Data for the current study were abstracted from the Nurses’ Health Study II (NHSII) and the Growing Up Today Study (GUTS). NHSII is an ongoing prospective study begun in 1989 in which female nurses complete a detailed questionnaire about their lifestyle and medical history at baseline and update the information every 2 years.
