Investigators from the University of California, San Diego, conducted a cross-sectional study of marijuana-using breastfeeding mothers to assess cannabinoid concentrations in breast milk. Participants were identified through a human milk biorepository in which breastfeeding mothers between 2014 and 2017 donated recently pumped breast milk and provided demographics; maternal and child health history; and details regarding exposures to medications, alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs as part of a standardized interview.
