Investigators from 2 Italian universities conducted a systematic review to assess the clinical characteristics of Kawasaki disease (KD) with intestinal involvement. The investigators searched the PubMed and Scopus databases by using the terms “Kawasaki AND (intestinal or bowel).” For all returned articles, the references were hand searched for additional articles. An article was eligible for inclusion if it reported cases of KD with intestinal involvement with full clinical and demographic data. Investigators then summarized the mean age, presenting symptoms, gastrointestinal and cardiac involvement, treatments, and outcomes among identified cases.
