Investigators from multiple international institutions conducted an analysis to assess the global impact of the introduction of rotavirus vaccine among children <5 years old. For the study, they reviewed data collected by the Global Rotavirus Surveillance Network (GRSN) coordinated by the World Health Organization (WHO). For GRSN, sentinel surveillance sites in all 6 global WHO regions collected data in a standardized manner on patients <5 years old admitted to the site hospital or ED with acute gastroenteritis (defined as ≥3 loose stools in a 24-hour period and lasting ≤14 days) between 2008 and 2016.
