Investigators conducted a multicenter, randomized, double-blind, noninferiority trial to compare the effect of ibuprofen to that of acetaminophen on post-tonsillectomy bleeding (PTB) in children. Children aged 2–18 years who presented to 1 of 4 study institutions for extracapsular tonsillectomy for sleep-disordered breathing or obstructive sleep apnea, adenotonsillar hypertrophy, or infectious tonsillitis were eligible. Children with known personal or family history of a bleeding disorder were excluded.
