Investigators from the University of Pittsburgh conducted a post hoc analysis of data collected during 2 large prospective longitudinal studies in children with UTIs to assess the risk of renal scarring and number of febrile UTIs (fUTIs). Data from the Randomized Intervention for Children With Vesicoureteral Reflux (RIVUR) and Careful Urinary Tract Infection Evaluation (CUTIE) studies were analyzed. For RIVUR, children 2 to 71 months old with vesicoureteral reflux (VUR) diagnosed after an index UTI were enrolled at 19 sites in North America.
