Investigators from the University of Toronto and The Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto, Canada, conducted a retrospective cohort study to assess the rate of infections in survivors of childhood leukemia. Study participants were Ontario, Canada, residents <18 years old with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) or acute myeloid leukemia (AML) diagnosed between 1992 and 2015 who survived without relapse at least 30 days beyond the completion of treatment. Data on these children were identified using the Pediatric Oncology Group of Ontario Networked Information System registry.
