Investigators from multiple institutions conducted a retrospective analysis to assess the relationship between anxiety and depression and asthma-related ED visits in children. For the study, the authors abstracted data from the Massachusetts All-Payer Claims Database for 2014 and 2015. This database includes comprehensive claims data from both private and public insurers in the state. The primary study outcome was asthma-related ED visits per 100 child-years for children with asthma, a metric developed by the Collaboration for Advancing Pediatric Quality Measurement.
