Investigators from multiple institutions conducted a meta-analysis to assess the risk factors for contralateral slipped capital femoral epiphysis (cSCFE) given considerable orthopedic practice variation regarding prophylactic fixation of the contralateral hip in pediatric patients with SCFE. Investigators searched all studies published before July 2017 using Medline, Embase, and Cochrane databases. Only studies that specifically investigated risk factors for cSCFE were included; case reports, cases series, and review articles were excluded.
